When is Eurovision?

The Eurovision Song Contest is part of two semi-finals, that are held before the grand final.

  • Semi-Final 1: Tuesday 9 May 2023
  • Semi-Final 2: Thursday 11 May 2023
  • Grand Final: 13 May 2023

Betting on the Favourites?

As it is still early on, we can only see the broad strokes – but on the outright winner we have Sweden who are priced at 4/5 at Betstorm among several other betting sites. If Sweden takes this win it will put them as a tie with Ireland when it comes to most Eurovision wins (7). Loreen will be representing Sweden again, this time with “Tattoo”.

Neighboring country Finland is currently placed slightly after in odds with the song “Cha Cha Cha” performed by Kaarija priced at 3/1 at Betstorm. Earlier wins by finland includes the 2006 win by Lordi.

Tying up third is last years winner, Ukraine priced at 13/1 with “Heart of Steel”. Due to world events, the competition will be held in the UK and not in Ukrain – but Tvorchi performing from Liverpool during the BBC televised event.

  1. Tattoo – Loreen Odds: 4/5
  2. Cha Cha Cha – Kaarija Odds: 3/1
  3. Heart of Steel – Tvorchi Odds: 13/1

See list of full odds further down.

What to Look for in the Best Eurovision Betting Sites

You may have a desire to compare Eurovision betting with something like horse racing wagering or other sports. However, it is quite different considering it only happens once a year. Countries such as the Netherlands, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, Moldova, Georgia and others will all be competing in 2023, so what do you need to look out for when choosing a Eurovision betting site? Well, as this year’s contest gets ready to take place in Rotterdam, it is time for you to choose the best bookmaker for you. So, here are some features of the sites to look out for when selecting one:

  • Easy-to-Use Functionality

There is nothing worse than finding an online sportsbook and then getting lost and confused figuring out how to place your bet. Things should be set up so as to provide a simple and effective betting process at the best Eurovision betting sites. This way, you can opt for Croatia or Belgium or Azerbaijan as your favoured winning country for example, without any trouble. Eurovision odds should be easy to find and the wager you place should also be easy to place.

  • Mobile Compatibility

It may not be convenient for you to place a Eurovision Song Contest bet from home. Just imagine if you were out of the house and you suddenly remembered that you wanted to place a bet on Romania or Albania. This is where mobile betting comes into play. An online sportsbook should also be set up so as to cater to the mobile gambling sector, too. This means that you can either download a mobile app for your smartphone or visit the site through its web browser to login.

  • Support for Multiple Payment Methods

Regardless of if you choose to bet in semi-final 1, semi final 2, the grand final or all three, you need to be able to deposit money easily. This is why the best Eurovision betting sites provide their players with a variety of payment methods to use for depositing and withdrawing purposes. This means debit cards are accepted, as well as e-wallets, bank transfers, prepaid cards and so on.

  • A Strong Selection of Other Betting Options

Eurovision 2023 betting and in all other years is an exciting setup to get behind, without a doubt. Of course, once the event has passed, you may want to engage in betting on some other sports and TV specials. That is why we recommend that you visit and join a site with a strong selection of alternative sports betting options. This way you do not have to wait for songs to be submitted from Finland, San Marino, Malta and so on in 2022. You can engage in betting on other TV series and sports in the meantime.

  • Excellent Customer Support

While it is true that Eurovision betting should always be a simple process, it is understandable that things may not always go the right way. So, if you ever need assistance from an online sportsbook, it is important that you obtain the assistance you need. That is why the sites that we recommend all come with excellent customer support features. This way, you can seek out help whenever you require it and find the necessary support.

  • Useful Promotions

It is one thing for an online sports betting site to provide you with a generic welcome offer, but it is another for you to benefit from ongoing rewards, too. Eurovision 2023 betting should therefore also allow you to claim enhanced odds, insightful tips, free bets and so on from your chosen platform. Be certain to check into the betting promotions section of the betting site you are registered at to find out more about these.

How to Bet on Eurovision 2023

Eurovision Betting Odds 2023

With so many countries participating in the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest, it may be difficult to try and figure out which one stands the best chance of winning. Of course, nothing is certain, and really it will depend upon both the performances in the two semi-finals and the grand final. Votes by independent juries and telephone votes will be tallied together to provide the overall winner. However, we can take a look at what the bookies are saying about the entries so far. Here are some of the best Eurovision betting odds:

Country Odds Song and Artist
Sweden 4/5 “Tattoo” Loreen
Finland 3/1 “Cha Cha Cha” Käärijä
Ukraine 13/1 “Heart of Steel” Tvorchi
Spain 11/1 “Eaea” Blanca Paloma
Norway 18/1 “Queen of Kings” Alessandra
Israel 28/1 “Unicorn” Noa Kirel
France 28/1 “Évidemment” La Zarra
Austria 33/1 “Who The Hell Is Edgar?” Teya & Salena
Czechia 33/1 “My Sister’s Crown” Vesna
United Kingdom 50/1 “I Wrote A Song” Mae Muller
Italy 66/1 “Due vite” Marco Mengoni
Armenia 80/1 “Future Lover” Brunette
Switzerland 125/1 “Watergun” Remo Forrer
Croatia 150/1 “Mama ŠČ!” Let 3
Netherlands 150/1 “Burning Daylight” Mia Nicolai & Dion Cooper
Germany 150/1 “Blood & Glitter” Lord Of The Lost
Georgia 200/1 “Echo” Iru
Serbia 200/1 “Samo mi se spava” Luke Black
Moldova 200/1 “Soarele și Luna” Pasha Parfeni
Australia 200/1 “Promise” Voyager
Cyprus 200/1 “Break a Broken Heart” Andrew Lambrou
Slovenia 200/1 “Carpe Diem” Joker Out
Lithuania 200/1 “Stay” Monika Linkytė
Azerbaijan 250/1 “Tell Me More” TuralTuranX
Iceland 250/1 “Power” Diljá

And from there the list goes on. Poland (“Solo” Blanka), Estonia (“Bridges” Alika), Denmark (“Breaking My Heart” Reiley), Portugal (“Ai Coração” Mimicat), Ireland (“We Are One” Wild Youth), Greece (“What They Say” Victor Vernicos), San Marino (“Like An Animal” Piqued Jacks), Latvia (“Aijā” Sudden Lights ), Malta(“Dance (Our Own Party)” The Busker), Belgium (“Because of You” Gustaph) all are high odds of 250/1, only Romania (“D.G.T. (Off and On)” Theodor Andrei) and Albania (“Duje” Albina & Familja Kelmendi) are set at 300/1.

2023 Eurovision Song Contest Betting Markets

While it would be commonplace to just think that sportsbooks will be providing Eurovision betting odds on the overall winner, there is much more to it than that. Naturally, the contest’s winner is the primary focus for many punters, but additional markets are also available to access and place wagers on. Not all platforms provide betting on multiple markets, and instead stick with the basic overall winner. However, you can find some UK bookies that offer odds on extra possibilities. The following markets are usually available for betting on:

Overall Eurovision Winner

This bet is on who you believe will be the overall winner of the Eurovision Song Contest by the end of the grand final.

Top Finish

You can place a wager on one or more countries that you believe will finish in the top 10, 5, 4 or 3 by the end of the grand final.

Semi-Final Betting

With two semi-finals occurring prior to the grand final, you can place wagers on these events, too. Bets include wagering on the qualifying countries, the country to finish in last place and the countries in the top 3 positions.

Ultimate Eurovision Betting Tips

Eurovision betting can be thoroughly exciting, especially if you intend to watch the contest unfold and see if your wagers pay off. However, if you have never placed bets on the Eurovision Song Contest before, then you may want to take a few tips away with you. That is precisely what we have here for you. This way, you will know whether to bet on Sweden, Armenia, Finland, Ukraine or Israel!

  • Learn about the countries that are participating and the songs that have been submitted.
  • Check out YouTube videos of the participating songs and find out how many likes and positive comments they have.
  • Understand that the final winner will have received votes from televiewers and independent juries combined.
  • Try placing smaller bets on various countries to win, as anything can happen at the grand final.
  • Check into the history of the contest to see who has won before, but use this only as a very basic guide. Again, nothing is ever certain where Eurovision betting is concerned.

What is the Eurovision Song Contest and How is It Structured?

Eurovision bettin Based on the Sanremo Music Festival held in Italy since 1951, the Eurovision Song Contest was introduced in 1956. It stemmed from a desire to promote cooperation between European countries in the years following the Second World War through cross-border television broadcasts. It was also through this that the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) rose to heightened prominence. Active members of the EBU, as well as invited associate members, have the possibility of competing in the contest each year.

While many people believe that it is a European contest, this is not quite the case. EBU countries include locations like Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Israel, Australia, Morocco and even Lebanon and Tunisia. All of these countries are therefore eligible to enter the Eurovision Song Contest, if they so wish to in the future.

The contest has often provided artists with a local career boost, although others have achieved international success following their participation. Acts like ABBA, Celine Dion and Olivia Newton-John have all participated in the Eurovision event in the past.

The rules dictate that original songs must be submitted from all participating countries and must be no longer than three minutes each. No more than six people can be on the stage at any given time during performances. All submitted entries, other than the Big 5 songs from Germany, Italy, Spain, France and the United Kingdom, must then compete in two separate semi-finals to produce the 26 grand final songs. In the grand final, televiewers submit their votes for their favourite song(s), and these votes are then combined with a professional jury’s votes from each country.

Past Winners of the Eurovision Song Contest

Year Winner Runner Up
2022 Kalush(Ukraine) Sam Ryder (UK)

2015 Måns Zelmerlöw (Sweden) Polina Gagarina (Russia)

Where to Watch Eurovision Live In The UK

If you are intending to both engage in Eurovision betting and watch the show as it airs live, then this is possible. However, you will not be able to do this in one and the same location. While sportsbooks do provide betting on the contest, they do not live stream the event while it is happening. Instead, you can live stream the event through the official Eurovision website and Eurovision.tv or via the official YouTube channel for the brand. Alternatively Eurovision will be broadcast live on BBC One. The BBC’s coverage will be hosted by Graham Norton, Hannah Waddingham, Alesha Dixon and Ukrainian singer Julia Sanina.

Eurovision 2023 Betting: The Bottom Line

When it comes to Eurovision betting, there is perhaps no singing contest that provides more entertainment and thrills. And if you watch it live as well, then there is little doubt that you will have an exceptional experience. As long as you are wagering at it through a recommended and trustworthy online sportsbook, then you will likely find yourself getting plenty of enjoyment from it. All of the bookmakers that we have recommended feature excellent Eurovision betting odds, meaning that you can enjoy wagering on Greece, Finland, Ireland, Spain or whoever you choose as your favourite.

FAQs

Do the Same Countries Participate in the Eurovision Song Contest Each Year?

No, not always. Countries have the option of submitting a song or withdrawing from the contest on a year-by-year basis, if they so wish. For the 2023 contest, countriesBulgaria, Montenegro and North Macedon will not be competing.

Can I Bet on My Own Country Winning?

While it is not possible for you to vote for your own country in the contest, you can still place a bet on it winning, if you so wish. Therefore, if you live in the United Kingdom, you cannot vote for the entry in the grand final, but you can bet on it winning, if that is your selection.

Which Country Has Won the Eurovision Song Contest the Most?

Ireland has secured the most victories in the Eurovision Song Contest, racking up seven wins so far. Its last win came in 1996 when Eimear Quinn secured 162 points with her song “The Voice”. Germany has competed in the contest more times than any other country, only missing out on one of them.

What Are the Big Five and Why Don’t They Participate in Semi-Finals?

The Big Five countries participating in the Eurovision Song Contest are France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. These five countries provide more financial assistance to the contest than anywhere else, meaning that their song submissions go straight to the final as a consequence. This is why punters cannot bet on them in semi-final wagering.

Why Do Australia, Israel and Others Get to Participate When They Aren’t in Europe?

Because the contest welcomes participants from active members of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). While this does primarily serve European countries, other locations are also members of it. This includes Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia. Associate members include countries like Australia, Canada, China, Georgia, New Zealand, Syria and the United States of America. This means that, theoretically, all of those countries can submit, and in several circumstances have submitted, a song for the contest, too.
