The English Open isn’t quite as well-known as this ‘big two’, but the popularity of both it and English Open snooker betting is growing rapidly.
In this article, you’ll learn everything you need to know about English Open snooker betting. We’ll tell you what the competition is, the best places you can get on it, and provide some top tips on turning a profit.

In case of a £50 bonus, you will have to place at least 24 separate bets, with a £50 contribution each, to wager your bonus in full.
2024 Snooker English Open Betting Preview
The English Open is actually a relatively new competition, having only launched in 2016. It’s one of four ‘Home Nations’ tournaments held
across Britain, with the Scottish Open, Welsh Open, and Northern Island Open being the others.
The 2020 English Open went ahead relatively smoothly despite the circumstances, with only four players needing to withdraw due to Covid. It was won by Englishman Judd Trump, who took home a tidy £70,000 prize, with former world champion Neil Robertson coming second.,
The 2021 English Open will take place between 1-7 November, and will be held in Milton Keynes. Like last year, the total prize fund will be £405,000, with the winner getting a £70,000 share. Most of the qualifiers were already held in September 2021, although a few of the top seeds (including defending champion Judd Trump) technically still need to play their qualifying matches. Either way, 128 players will start the tournament itself, with the likes of Ronnie O’Sullivan, Stuart Bingham, and Ding Junhui almost guaranteed to appear.
Snooker English Open 2024 Betting Odds
We’ll cover your specific English Open snooker betting choices shortly. For now though, simply know that the most popular pre-tournament wager – by far – is Outright Winner. All of our recommended betting sites will provide this market, and it will be open several weeks in advance of the tournament itself kicking off.
At the time of writing, the outright odds for the tournament haven’t yet been released. This should happen shortly though, so check back on this page regularly to get a quick comparison of all the top odds at once.
How We Rank English Open Betting Sites
Snooker enjoys almost universal coverage on British sportsbooks, and almost all of these will also be providing markets on the English Open. At the top of this page, you can see the 10 such sites we recommend above all others. These rankings were made according to a strict set of criteria, with these being the most important ones.
Odds
Even on the exact same market, prices can vary significantly from bookie-to-bookie. In turn, these can have a significant impact on any winnings you get from a successful wager. We’ve compared the prices on each of our recommended bookies to those being offered by competitors. In each case, they were at least competitive with – if not superior to – those other brands.
Markets
As noted, most betting sites will cover the English Open to some extent. Again though, the actual breadth of that coverage can differ significantly. Most of them will offer basic outright markets like Overall Winner, and individual Match Winner wagers. The best ones, however, will let you place detailed bets on the exact outcome you think will occur. Naturally, we’ve favoured sites offering this extra flexibility.
Betting Offers
We’ll discuss this in more detail later. For now, simply know that we’ve rewarded bookies who provide high quality promotions for English Open snooker betting. These don’t necessarily need to be restricted to the English Open. If they can be used on snooker in general – or simply all sports – and still help your money go further, that’s fine by us.
Live Betting Tools
Snooker matches take quite a while, making them perfect for placing in-play wagers at a more relaxed pace. We’ve checked the live betting options for all our recommended sites. Not only have we confirmed that they cover snooker, but we’ve also evaluated the responsiveness and reliability of both the in-play and cash out tools.
Security
This is one of the first things we check, on any English Open snooker betting site. We look not only at the licenses which the brand has secured, but also at the safety measures they have in place. At a minimum, these should include SSL, secure payment methods, and a separation between company and user funds.
English Open Betting Offers
Even the very biggest snooker tournaments – like the World Championships – generally fail to draw their own specific promotions. As such, it will be no surprise to learn that this is the case with the English Open too.
Even so, most other betting promotions will be eligible for usage not only on snooker, but on the English Open too. These are the two main types of offers to be aware of.
Welcome Offers
For British punters, welcome offers will usually take the form of either ‘Bet X, Get Y’ or ‘Deposit Match’. The BetUK ‘Bet £10, Get £30 in Free Bets’ deal is a great example of the former, while 10Bet currently have a ‘50% First Deposit Bonus Up To £50′ Deposit Match in place.
Either way, the important thing is that you’ll be given free bets in return for successfully triggering the deal. These tokens can then be spent on either pre-match, in-play, or outright markets for the English Open, thus sparing your regular cash balance. If you’re feeling especially confident, you can even use them for a no-risk matched betting strategy. If executed correctly, this will actually guarantee you a profit in your snooker betting.
Ongoing Promotions
There’s a lot more variety among ongoing promotions than welcome offers. That said, we’d recommend targeting three main types for the English Open.
The first is anything which gives you a free bet, for the reasons mentioned above, with ‘free bet clubs’ being the best example. The second is insurance deals, which reimburse you for certain losing wagers. Last but not least are odds boosts, which you can use to inflate your price (and thus your winnings) on an English Open market.
Popular English Open Snooker Betting Markets
You won’t find anywhere near as many betting markets for the English Open as you would for a football competition, for example. That said, you still have a decent amount of choice in how you approach your English Open snooker betting, and your options can be broken down into these three categories.
Outright
These are the longest-term wagers you can place. Markets typically open weeks in advance of the English Open starting, and they will cover outcomes for the entire tournament.
Unfortunately, you also have the least amount of choice for these wagers. Most snooker betting sites will only let you place Overall Winner bets, in which – quite simply – you’re picking the player you think will lift the trophy when all’s said and done.
Pre-Match
Pre-Match wagers for the English Open have the most individual options, by a mile. Obviously you’ll be able to wager on the winner of an individual match, and we’d recommend starting here if you’re an inexperienced punter.
If you crave more control, however, you might want to take a handicap wager instead. This lets you start a match with a ‘fake score’, and thus back a favourite at a better price. Truly confident bettors might want to wager on the exact final score, but this is obviously a risky play.
In-Play
You won’t get quite as much variety here as you do pre-match. When betting in-play on English Open matches, however, you obviously have more information than you do before a game kicks off.
Again, a simple Match Result wager is the most common pick here. Many snooker bettors prefer to get more closely involved though, by betting on the winners of individual frames instead.
5 English Open Betting Tips
As with any snooker tournament, there’s no guarantee you’ll make money off the English Open. There are definitely certain measures you can take to boost your chances though, with these being five of the most effective.
1 – Do Your Research
There’s absolutely no substitute for research. This should be done ahead of time, so that you know what you want to bet on before the tournament, prior to each match, or while the action is ongoing. Check out the form guides for each English Open participant, read all the betting tips you can get your hands on, and – in general – be as informed as possible.
2 – Wager In-Play
Because of its slow-paced nature, snooker is a perfect sport to wager on in-play. You still get the main benefit of live betting – taking advantage of the latest events within a match – but without the stress of doing so with a more speedy sport.
3 – Watch the Matches
The entire English Open will be broadcast on Eurosport. If you possibly can, we’d recommend watching any games you’re interested in live. This will not only increase your enjoyment of wagering on the tournament, but will greatly help to improve your in-play betting too.
4 – Use Those Offers
Special offers take many shapes and forms, but all good deals will either help you to avoid losing money, or boost the amount you win. As long as the T&Cs are fair, and the value is clear, we’d recommend using as many special offers as you can during the English Open, to help your money go further.
5 – Bet Responsibly
Remember that your English Open snooker betting should be enjoyable. If it ceases being fun, take a break or stop entirely. Also remember to only wager what you can afford to lose. Creating a staking plan – in which you identify exactly how much you’re willing to wager ahead of time – can be a great help here.
Previous English Open Snooker Winners
We’ve obviously focused on the 2024 English Open in this article. As noted above though, putting the time into doing research can have a major effect on your betting success.
With tournaments such as this one, it can really help to look back at prior editions, and try to pick out some trends or other useful tidbits. That could be as complex as checking out the form guide of each winner heading into the tournament, or analysing the betting odds of each edition to try and identify a value pick. Alternatively, it could be as simple as observing that Judd Trump is the only player so far to have made two separate English Open finals.
Either way, here’s a quick-and-easy table of all the previous English Open final matchups, to give your research a kick-start.

Final Word on the English Open
The English Open is a relatively new addition to the snooker calendar. Between a star-filled lineup and a sizable prize fund, however, it’s already generated plenty of excitement.
English Open snooker betting has also become increasingly popular among fans of the sport. Pre-match, in-play and outright markets all offer you different opportunities, and if you mix these correctly – and use those promotions whenever possible – you’ve got every chance of turning a profit here.
