Our Top 5 New Zealand Sites with Free Bets
You’ve already seen our top 10 betting sites with free bets. Now it’s time to focus on the best sites with the best types of free bets for Kiwi bettors.
1. Lucky Block – Your #1 Destination for Free Bets Online
Lucky Block excels in both free bets and providing sports betting options.
Thanks to Lucky Block’s extremely impressive bonus offer, things get off to an excellent start. This can give you free bets up to 25,000 EUR in value. Also, your deposits are matched 200%, rather than the 100% most bookies offer. On top of that, you’re given further free bets as an existing customer, thanks to weekly ‘reload missions.’
Even beyond its free bet deals, Lucky Block is easily one of the top sportsbooks in New Zealand. It’s faultlessly easy to use, covers dozens of sports, accepts many cryptocurrencies, and provides responsive and helpful customer support.

2. Mega Dice – Leading Crypto-Friendly Free Bet Sportsbook
Mega Dice is a slick and modern sportsbook that nails its free bet offers and the general fundamentals of sports betting.
For newcomers, Mega Dice provides a 200% welcome bonus worth up to a hefty 1 BTC – no bonus code needed. At the time of writing, that’s worth over 50,000 USD. The deal is easy to claim, and the underlying T&Cs are fair.
Using your bonus is incredibly easy, thanks to the brilliantly streamlined user interface, and there are thousands upon thousands of markets to wager on. And once you have used the welcome bonus, you’ll find two excellent reload bookmaker offers to trigger each week.
You’ll find excellent live chat support on hand if you have any questions.

3. Conquestador – Boost Your Profits on Winning Bets
Conquestador might not be as visually appealing as our top two options. However, this first impression changes quickly when you see the welcome offer. This excellent deal matches your first deposit to 200%, immediately giving you useful free bets. While there’s no specific welcome offer for the sportsbook, your profits here can still be used on sports markets.
Existing players can then benefit from some of the best bet boosts around. These can ramp up your winnings by up to 100%, depending on how many selections you add. Loyal players can also benefit from a generous VIP program, which can deliver free bets and other rewards. Just remember to check the terms for each offer.
Elsewhere, Conquestador provides a full range of regular sports and e-sports to wager on, both live and in-play. The odds are highly competitive, and the variety of bet types is extensive.

4. BetVictor – Prestigious Brand With Free Bet Sign Up Bonus
BetVictor is a well-known international brand, albeit one which does provide a New Zealand-focused version of its site. Among other benefits, this lets you deposit and use NZD directly, rather than converting to another currency.
BetVictor features a highly appealing welcome offer. This gives a 150% match on your initial deposit, up to $150 (full T&Cs apply as always). The site lacks ongoing promotions outside this free bet when you sign up, you get plenty of other value via enhanced prices. These improve the already excellent odds and are available on several top markets.
This bookie also offers peace of mind through its reputation and security measures. You can also deposit using a selection of payment methods, and the customer support is excellent.
What We Like: What We Don’t Like:
5. Rabona – Best Ongoing Free Bet Offers Around
Rabona has been one of the best international betting sites for some time now. It caters particularly well to Kiwi bettors, with NZD directly supported and a selection of popular payment options.
Bettors in New Zealand also get a decent welcome here, courtesy of the generous signup bonus. This matches your first deposit 100%, up to 200 NZD, in free sports bets.
Where Rabona truly excels, however, is in its ongoing free bet promos. These are numerous, varied, and generally brilliant. They tick all the boxes, including a risk-free bet, reload bonuses, and enhanced winnings.
There are further cash-based offers, too, including early payouts and a bore draw refund. Add all that together, plus the provision of both iOS and Android betting apps with free bets, and few sites provide so much for so little as Rabona.

What is a Free Bet?
A free bet is a bonus, which acts as a digital bet token. It will have a monetary value, which is determined by the offer’s specifics.
The token can then be used to place a wager. Doing so won’t cost you any actual money. However, any winnings you get from that wager will still be given as real cash.
In short, using a free bet is completely risk-free but can still net you some healthy profits.
Note that there may be a deposit required, along with wagering requirements to meet, before you can withdraw any winnings from your free bet stake. More on that below.
How Free Bets Work
Firstly, these tokens are ‘free’ but are not usually awarded for free. Instead, you’ll need to fulfil some kind of requirement. This involves some combination of making a deposit and placing a qualifying bet. Do so successfully, and your free bet will be awarded.
Using your free bet is basically the same as placing a normal wager. You use the free bet within your bet slip instead of your cash balance.
If your free bet wager wins, you’ll need to complete a wagering requirement before withdrawing those winnings. This involves betting through the free bet amount a certain number of times. Once you’ve done so, the winnings will convert to cash, and you can either leave them in your account to keep betting or take them out.
Different Types of Sportsbook Free Bets
We took a broad overview of free bets in the previous couple of sections. How you actually get these tokens varies widely, though. Let’s look at some of the most common examples.
Free Bet Sign-Up Offers
Welcome offers are the most common way to get free bets and arguably the best since they give you the biggest bonuses.
The most common format by far is the ‘deposit match.’ In this case, you simply sign up and deposit, and the brand matches it to a certain percentage. For example, if it’s a 100% deposit match and you deposit 100 NZD, you’ll get a 100 NZD free bet.
As noted above, that’s not the end of the story. You can use your free bet immediately, but – if it wins – you must complete a wagering requirement. For example, with a 5x wagering requirement, you’d need to bet through 500 NZD before your free bet winnings convert into real, withdrawable cash.
No Deposit Free Bets
The no deposit free bet is a holy grail for sports bettors. As noted, you’ll normally need to make at least a deposit before claiming a free bet. These deals break that basic rule. Instead, all you need to do is sign up, and the sportsbook will immediately give you a free bet.
Unsurprisingly, these offers are extremely rare. None of our recommended betting sites in New Zealand currently offer one, and – if you do come across such a deal – we’d recommend pouncing immediately.
Risk-Free Bets
Risk-free bets work a little differently from regular free bet offers. They can still prove extremely valuable, however.
These deals don’t automatically dish out free bets. Instead, you place a bet (usually your first wager after signing up) as normal while abiding by certain T&Cs.
If it wins, you keep your winnings. If it loses, your stake will be refunded as a free bet. Basically, you can’t lose your money, hence the ‘risk-free’ tag.
Reload Bonuses
Reload bonuses work in the same way as deposit matches. The only real difference is that they apply to existing customers rather than new ones. The size of your free bets here will tend to be smaller, but the advantage is that the deal can be triggered repeatedly rather than just once.
Free Bet Club
Free bet clubs are a great way to get regular bonuses. To join, you must fulfil certain criteria – usually placing bets above a certain minimum stake amount. You’ll be given free bets to use as long as you keep doing so within the time frame (typically a week).
Insurance Free Bets
Insurance deals work similarly to risk-free bets but are less flexible. To qualify, you must place a wager on an eligible market. Under certain circumstances, your stake for a losing wager will be refunded as a free bet. A classic example is Bore Draw Insurance on soccer, which usually refunds a Match Result wager if you bet on one team to win, but the game finishes 0-0.
What Are Enhanced Odds Offers?
Not all enhanced odds offers will involve free bets. Regardless, they’re definitely one of the best ways to gain extra value on a sportsbook.
These deals work in two main ways. First, you’re given digital tokens, similar to free bets, which you can apply yourself. The second, more common way is for the sportsbook to apply its own enhanced odds.
Either way, these odds boosts artificially inflate the price on the relevant market. In turn, your potential winnings are also boosted. Those extra winnings usually come as cash but may be given as free bets.
Tips for Choosing the Best New Zealand Free Bets
Go with one of our recommended bet sites with free bets, and you can rest assured that you’re getting a good deal. If you prefer to find your own sportsbook, here are some top things to look for.
Bonus Amount
This isn’t the be-all, end-all, but it is still the first thing you should look up. Quite simply, the bigger the free bet is, the bigger your potential profits when using it.
Rollover Requirement
It’s crucial that you remember that claiming your free bet won’t be the end of the story. After using it, you’ll almost always need to complete a rollover requirement. Be sure to check the size of this in advance before committing to a deal.
Eligible Markets
If you only like to bet on specific markets, you must also check that these are supported beforehand. While most bookies are very flexible about how you use your free bets, some will limit the sports or bet types you can use or impose minimum odds requirements for the market in question.
Time Frames
All free bet offers will come with at least one time limit. These can apply to the timeframe you must use your free bet or complete the rollover requirement. Either way, ensure the bookie gives you enough time to maximise your opportunity.
Ongoing Promotions
Don’t just focus on the sign-up bonus when considering a bookie. Look beyond that to the free bets, which existing customers can claim too, since – ultimately – you’ll be able to use these for far longer than your one-time welcome offer.
Pros and Cons of Free Bets at New Zealand Sportsbooks
We’re not here to simply sell you on the idea of using bookmaker free bet offers. Instead, we want to explain what they are, present a balanced picture, and leave the decision up to you. In that spirit, here are both the advantages and disadvantages of free bet bonuses.
What We Like: Free bet welcome offers immediately give you significantly more spending power. In fact, they will usually double it, at the very least, with some brands trebling it. Even with a standard 100% deposit match, for example, a $100 deposit will allow you to place $200 in wagers. Obviously, you’d prefer to win when using your free bets. However, one of the best things about these deals is that – unlike when using your actual cash balance – there’s no penalty for not being able to do so. Free bet offers are so useful that you might think they’d be rare. Actually, the opposite is true. Almost every respectable brand will have at least one such deal, essentially letting you pick any top New Zealand sportsbook you please. What We Don’t Like: Unless you’re lucky enough to find a no-deposit free bet deal, you’ll still need to commit some money before claiming a free bet. However, The rewards on offer will usually make this worthwhile. This is the main drawback of free bet offers for newer users, and even veteran punters must be careful to read the small print. The likes of minimum odds requirements, market restrictions, and so on must all be obeyed, or both your time and money can be wasted.
How to Claim Your Free Bets
Claiming free bets in New Zealand couldn’t be easier, regardless of your experience level with using sportsbooks. Here’s a quick explanation of how to sign up and get a free bet for yourself.
Step 1 – Pick a Sportsbook
Naturally, Your first task is to pick a sportsbook accepting customers from New Zealand. We’ve suggested ten great options at the top of this page, and – for the purposes of this guide – we will assume you’ve gone with our top recommendation, Lucky Block.
Step 2 – Create Your Account
Find the Register button (or similar) on the home page and click it to start the registration process. Provide the necessary personal information, set your login details, and create your account.
Step 3 – Make a Deposit
Log in to your new account, and head to the cashier area. Make your first deposit here, being sure to abide by any rules for payment method eligibility and minimum deposit amounts.
Step 4 – Claim and Use Your Free Bet
After making your first deposit, you should receive your free bet automatically. If you don’t, we’d recommend contacting customer support. Once you have it, you can use it just like a regular stake. Add a selection to your bet slip, but use the bonus instead of your cash balance.
Step 5 – Complete the Rollover Requirement
If your wager wins, you must complete a rollover requirement. This requires placing more wagers within the sportsbook until you’ve exceeded the total stake amount.
Make the Most of Your Free Bets
These types of bets can be incredibly useful but still don’t automatically guarantee success. Here are four steps to make the most out of these deals.
- Treat Them Carefully
Since they’re basically risk-free, there’s a temptation to treat these bonuses as ‘free hits.’ This can lead to poor decision-making and wasted opportunities. Instead, treat these bonuses as if they really were cash, and put as much effort into researching and considering how you use them as you would with a typical bet.
- Split Them If Possible
Some bookies will give you your free bets as one big token. However, if you get it as a total balance, split it into multiple wagers. This gives you multiple opportunities to win, rather than putting all your eggs in one basket.
- Don’t Forget Loyalty Programs
Many top sportsbooks in New Zealand will automatically enroll you in their VIP programs. You’ll gather points in these as you continue to place wagers. Don’t forget about those points since they can often be converted into bonus bets or – better yet – cash rewards.
- If In Doubt, Ask
Fail to abide by the T&Cs properly, and you’ll likely waste both your time and money. This is an extremely common mistake, but it’s very easily avoided. If there’s anything in the small print you don’t understand, simply take the time to reach out and ask the bookie’s live chat support team for clarification.
Mobile Free Bets
Your days of being restricted to a desktop computer or laptop for online betting in New Zealand are long gone. We’re pleased to say the mobile revolution has encompassed free bets, too.
All our recommended bookies let you use their platforms via a mobile device, through an app, or a mobile version of their website. Either way, you can claim and use the best free bets exactly as you would on the desktop version.
Low-Risk, High Reward Bonuses
These bets are easily one of the most useful tools in a bettor’s arsenal. The appeal is clear, with these essentially being ‘free hits.’ There’s no risk when using them, but you can still get real profits when doing so.
After reading this article, you know everything you need to claim free bets in New Zealand. All you need to do now is pick one of our recommended sportsbooks, create your account, and grab a bonus for yourself.
