But which Irish bookies are the best? That’s where we come in – we are here to tell you where you should be placing your Euros when you want to bet on that day’s meeting at the Curragh or the big games in the Allianz National Football League or EPL. Keep on reading to learn more.
The Top 10 Online Betting Sites Ireland – a Closer Look
1. Lucky Block - 15% Cash Back For The First 7 Days
Lucky Block are newcomers to both Ireland and the international gambling community as a whole following their launch in 2022. This brand new venture from Entretenimiento Rojo B.V based in and licensed from Curaçao, this is one online sportsbook where you can deposit, wager and withdraw in cryptocurrencies. Some traditional banking options are available too, giving sports bettors the best of both worlds.
Besides popular crypto payment options including Bitcoin, there are more than 30 different sports available at Lucky Block to take a punt on. Notable among these are the strong range of eSports. Promising thousands of live events to wager on every day, Lucky Block also does in-play betting really well. They’ve made a great start to life as an online sportsbook, supported by a casino platform that has over 6,000 games you can play.
Rabona is an online sportsbook available to people in Ireland that has only been online since 2019. It is a relatively new venture for the established Soft2Bet Group, who already have a pretty decent reputation for their gambling websites. Rabona has a licence from Curaçao which, given that gambling authority’s less than stellar reputation, might give cause for concern. We are, however, happy to confirm that Rabona has impressed countless sports bettors since it popped online, so you can put any security fears to rest.
This site is another that will appeal to sports bettors who like to bet on live events, as Rabona can provide you with over 20,000 live events each and every month. Cash out is available across the board and the payout on the top global sporting leagues is an impressive 95 percent. Support seems to be great too, and Rabona tries to honour all withdrawal requests within 24 hours.
3. Powbet - 100% Welcome Bonus Up To €500 + 200 Free Spins
At Powbet, there is a sportsbook, horse racing platform, virtual sports area and live casino all at your fingertips. Among the new betting sites Ireland can offer punters, there’s a great 100% first deposit welcome bonus up to €100 for new customers, but the deals don’t stop there. Powbet provides markets on over 30 different sports across all platforms, plus tournaments and weekly challenges that add a little something extra. The Bonus Cashback and Horse Racing Delight deals refund percentages of your losses, up to €500 at 10% on sportsbook wagers and €50 daily on the horses.
There are even bigger refunds on live betting with 20% Cashback up to €200. You can also get an Accumulator Boost up to 10% in bonus winnings. There is even a Weekly Reload Bonus of 50% up to €500 based on qualifying deposits. Powbet is really making an impact in Ireland and other countries with these awesome offers. With phenomenal Virtual Sports graphics, a real focus on live betting, and the horse racing platform providing markets worldwide powered by Latrobet, there is a lot to like about what they have to offer.
Spread betting kingpins Spreadex have a major presence in Ireland. This trading platform gives you the choice between buying and selling bets, the equivalent of backing or laying on the exchanges, and some fixed odds markets. If regular betting appeals to you, the welcome bonus of Bet €25, Get €35 in Free Bets is a great starting point. Supporting is a First Scorer Insurance deal on football. Toggling between the spread betting options and fixed odds is really easy, and it also opens up some unique gambling avenues.
When it comes to in-play betting, our experts found as many as 44 different sports events with live markets. That’s an impressive amount. To help you understand spread betting, there are lots of tutorials and how to guides that can bring you up to speed quickly. Although there are fewer fixed odds betting sports than on other online bookmakers and betting sites Ireland has to offer, that is fair enough. Spreadex puts its own niche of spread betting first and continues to dominate in that area.
Established by a couple of professional gamblers, Bethard has a sportsbook, live betting platform and Fantasy Sports section, plus casino and live casino. While the sports covered doesn’t include horse racing, one of the most popular in Ireland, there are still around 30 to choose from. Bethard lets you watch live eSports events too. They also have a great Cash Out and Partial Cash Out function if you want to quit while you’re ahead with a bet, or cut your losses. In-Play and Upcoming tabs on the sportsbook homepage let you see what events are live or about to begin.
There is also a Live Schedule that includes all of today’s games and matches listed by sport. The Fantasy Sports section is a real highlight of Bethard with around 1,200 leagues that you can join in. Create your own private competition, or join one with fees ranging from €2 up to €75. Bethard offers new customers a 100% sport bonus up to €50 when you register for an account. It would be nice if they had some more betting offers besides this, but they are relative newcomers to the Irish betting scene.
22bet may be one of the new betting sites Ireland has to offer, but the company has been around for some time – since 2017, in fact. Okay, so that makes it a mere toddler in bookmaking terms compared to bet365 and PaddyPower, but when it comes to 22bet with youth, comes beauty. Based in Cyprus, this site is another that – sadly – relies upon an obscure licensing board, this time from the tiny Canadian province of Kahnawake.
Fortunately, in the relatively short time it has been in business there have been no qualms about the way that 22bet conducts itself. Indeed, impartial reviews about 22bet usually edge towards the positive. The site has countless live betting opportunities (over 1,000 events every day) plus cashout and a ‘quickbet’ facility. It also has on board two ex-international football players as brand ambassadors – Nuno Gomes (Portugal) and Kevin Kuranyi (Germany).
Yet another of the new betting sites Ireland punters can wager with, Mr Mega has moved into sports betting from the related casino industry. Their sportsbook platform has almost 30 different sports you can bet on, including all major football leagues and horse racing in Ireland, the UK and overseas. With a Cash Out function for several sports and pre-match Combo Winnings Boosts of up to 77%, accumulator betting makes a lot of sense with this bookie. Mr Mega also keeps things simple with a Bet €15, Get €10 Free Bet welcome bonus for new customers.
In-play betting has its own dedicated tab with all the live eSports and sports wagers for events that are happening right now. Mr Mega also has a dedicated Virtual Sports section, plus its original casino and live casino platforms. With virtuals, they keep to the basics of football and horse racing, so the choice may be wider on competitor sites. High rollers can join an exclusive club and take advantage of the Mr Mega Loyalty Program, meanwhile. There is even a handy slider that lets you focus on events just for today from right up to all the scheduled things in the future.
10bet is the second-oldest brand on our top 10 list, having been created in Malta in 2003. Wisely, this site has gone with authorities with decent reputations for its licending – Malta, Sweden and the UK. It is the licence with the Malta Gaming Authority that allows 10bet to offer services to people in Ireland. 10bet comes with a stellar reputation and heaps of thumbs ups on independent review sites.
There is really nothing ‘stand out’ about 10bet, which is because the site just does everything well. It’s a reliable, no-nonsense sports betting site that is highly functional. Established sports bettors will recognise SBTech’s sports betting platform, and will instantly know they are onto something good. With 60,000 markets covering over 50 sports every month, and with 25,000 live markets on top of that, 10bet really does hit the back of the net if you’re hunting for the best sports betting site around.
There’s something about new betting sites Ireland has operating within it, as Curacao based operator Shangri La almost makes our list. Billing itself as an online casino and sportsbook, there are around 30 sports you can wager on. This compares favourably well with rivals. In-Play betting and Virtuals have dedicated sections, so Shangri La has that down. Besides matching your first deposit up to €100 when registering as a new customer, there are a couple of sportsbook offers to note. Firstly, there is a 10% weekly Reload Bonus on deposits up to €300.
The Acca Boost enhances the winnings on fourfold accumulators and up, meanwhile. Like many similar offers, the additional bonus increases incrementally based on the number of legs in the wager. There are terms and conditions, plus wagering requirements attached to all the Shangri La sportsbook deals as standard. Site Links take you to live betting opportunities, plus upcoming and Popular Events. There is a big focus on eSports on Shangri La, and they list individual games on which tournaments are held separately on their menu.
Bet365 is a sports betting site that should need no introduction to absolutely anyone. This Stoke-on-Trent-based betting behemoth was the first betting site to take the possibilities of internet betting seriously, and it has been paying them dividends (and especially to CEO Denise Coates, the fifth richest woman in the UK with over £8bn in her bank account) ever since. Bet365 is the most popular betting site in the UK, and is one that is becoming increasing popular in Ireland.
True, the dull design and colours of the bet365 website are not to everyone’s tastes, but that hardly matters. This sports betting site has everything anyone interested in sports betting in Ireland could possibly want, including live betting with cashout, live streaming, endless betting markets and easy bet builders. It even pays out when you lose – in football, as soon as your team goes two goals up your bet is classed as a win, no matter the final result!
*Sign up, deposit €5* or more to your account and we’ll match your qualifying deposit in Bet Credits (up to €100*) when you place qualifying bets to the same value and they are settled. New customers only, T&Cs apply.
11. Sportaza - 100% Welcome Deposit Match
Sportaza is one of the newest sportsbooks on the market but already has potential to be a mainstay in the industry. With unique promotions and competitive odds, there’s no reason not to give Sportaza a shot if you’re looking for a new bookie. There’s a huge range of markets available for both pre match and in play betting, so whichever kind of bettor you are, you’ll find what you’re looking for at Sportaza.
Sportaza is also one of the best looking sportsbooks on the market. A stand out logo and an attractive colour design on the site immediately drag you in. If you want to bet on the go, then there’s also a state of the art mobile betting app to try out on both iOS and Android devices.
One of the more unique features on Sportaza is the free to play ‘Football Team Collections’ promotion. When betting normally on sports, users are awarded Sportaza points, which can be spent on collectable cards for a range of top European teams. Collect all the players from your favourite teams and you’ll be awarded a cash prize!
With so many online bookmakers in Ireland catering for punters in Ireland today, it can be difficult to choose between them. However, punters can rest assured that our experts have picked nothing but the very best online bookies. When ranking the online betting sites Ireland has to offer, we consider the following factors:
Safety – All of the Irish betting sites listed on this page are 100% legal, reliable and secure. Each holds a relevant, recognised gambling licence, while also having a number of safety measures in place. As such, those signing up on these platforms will be doing so in the knowledge that their personal and payment details are secure. Bet365 is a site you can trust for safety.
Markets – Sport is a major part of the Irish culture. Betting customers now follow a host of different sports, including everything from football to the UFC. As a result, online bookies must ensure that they cater for all punters in this area. Each of our recommended online betting sites Ireland delivers a host of pre-match, in-play and outrights options. 22Bet is a site where you’ll never be short for markets to bet on.
Odds – Odds should be high on the list of priorities for any bettor. Betting odds will determine how much punters make from winning bets. Prices at our recommended sites are generally very appealing, with many offering price boosts and best odds guaranteed also. Check out 10bet if you want the best odds around.
Promotions – Whether it be for new or existing customers, promotions should be available. A welcome bonus can make signing up all the more appealing, while ongoing promotions such as accumulator boosts, enhanced odds and free bets are always well received. Quinnbet is a site that excels when it comes to boosted winnings.
Support – Ideally, customer support should be available 24/7. Whether it be over the phone, via email or through live chat, members of staff are generally accessible quickly on our recommended Irish betting sites. At Rabona, the support is always excellent.
Mobile – The majority of online gambling, including sports betting, today takes place on mobile devices. A number of our recommended online bookmakers Ireland have dedicated apps, while others simply ensure that their sportsbook site is optimised for mobile browsers. Betinia is a fine example of a site that looks great on mobile.
Features – Additional features at the best online bookmakers in Ireland help to add to the overall user experience. Live streaming, cash out, bet builders and pulse betting are just a handful of the features offered by our recommended bookies. The LeoVegas site has a very good number of features.
Key Features of the Best Online Bookmakers Ireland
If you’ve taken a few moments to work through our mini reviews then you will have worked out which are the most common and most important aspects of online betting sites Ireland. Not every site that’s available to Irish punters have these features, though. If specific aspects of sports betting are key to your sports betting, then you can find out which of our featured sites has the features that are most important to you.
There are three main ways that odds are indicated when it comes to sports betting – fractional, decimal and American. Here’s our handy guide to help you understand how each system works.
Fractional Betting Odds
The ‘traditional’ way of indicating odds is via fractional odds, which is the probability as defined by online bookies of something happening. If Ireland are 8/1 to beat England at football, then the sportsbook thinks that if eight games were played, England won win seven times, and Ireland once.
If you placed a €10 bet at 8/1 on Ireland and they did win, then to work out your winnings you multiply your bet by the fraction. In this case (€10 x 8)/1 = €80. If the odds were 15/2 then it would be (€10 x 15)/2 = €75.
Don’t forget that your stake is returned should your bet be a winner, so your total return from the 8/1 bet would be €90.
If the first number in odds expressed as fractional odds is smaller than the second number (i.e. 2/5, 3/8) then that means the odds are ‘odds on’ and any winnings would be smaller than your stake.
Decimal Betting Odds
Decimals odds are just fractional odds that are expressed in decimal form but with one difference – ‘1’ is always added to the conversion. This is because decimal odds calculate your returns, and not just your winnings.
So, to use the examples above, 8/1 when converted would be 9.00 and 15/2 would be 8.50. Therefore, to work out your returns from a winning bet (not winnings) using decimal odds you just multiply your stake by the odds.
If odds are ‘odds on’ (i.e. your winnings from a winning ‘odds on’ bet) then in decimal odds form they are less than 2.00.
American Betting Odds
American odds seem complicated when you first see them, but once you understand them, they are very easy to get used to. These odds are in the format (examples) +120 or -115.
If the number is positive, then that’s the amount of money you’d win if you place €100. If the number is negative then that’s the amount of money you have to place if you want to win €100. It’s easy to work out then that negative odds are always ‘odds on’.
So, if you bet €10 at odds of +120, you’d win €12. If you bet €10 at odds of -115 you win €8.70. American odds express winnings only, so for winning bets you need to add your stake back on too.
While a sign up offer should not be the only reason for registering with a bookie, they can certainly help. Having taken into consideration the reward on offer, as well as the T&Cs and wagering requirements surrounding such promotions, the following are our top three sign up offers from the best betting sites Ireland:

The best online bookmakers in Ireland offer a large number of sports markets, including pre-match, in-play and outright options. However, in terms of specific sports, the following are undoubtedly the most popular in Ireland today:
Football
Whether it be the League of Ireland or major leagues from across Europe, such as the English Premier League, football remains a hugely popular betting market. All online betting sites Ireland offer a host of options in this area, with popular football bets including both teams to score, first goalscorer and draw no bet. Ireland’s failure to qualify for the European Championships has done little to curb the interest of football betting fans, who place bets on their favourite teams and players on a weekly basis in many cases. Rabona is perhaps the best site for football betting.
Horse Racing
Ireland is home to some of the finest racecourses, with horse racing having long been followed by millions across the country. The Irish Grand National and Irish 1,000 Guineas are two of the standout races in the Irish calendar, while a large number of bets are also placed on meetings from across the UK. The vast majority of the top bookmakers Ireland has to offer place a great emphasis upon horse racing, with many offering live streaming of races. Bet365 is probably the best site available for Irish punters that has plenty of horse racing markets, both in Ireland and abroad.
Gaelic Football
Gaelic football of course is the national sport of Ireland. Dating back hundreds of years, there are now over 2,000 GAA clubs in Ireland. Major sporting events such as the All-Ireland Mens’ Senior Football Championship receive regular interest from punters, with Dublin having won the title five years in a row since 2015. 10bet is a great site for Gaelic/GAA football.
Hurling
Another hugely popular sport in Ireland is of course, hurling. Making up around a quarter of live sporting attendances, hurling has been played for some 3,000 years. The speed and excitement of the sport makes it appealing to betting customers too, with the All-Ireland Championship bringing together the top teams in the country. Kilkenny has 36 titles to its name to date. SportNation is a great site where you can bet on hurling.
Horse Racing Betting
Horse racing is synonymous with Ireland, and it always has been. There are records of horse racing taking place at the Curragh before Christ had been born. The first race with a royal warrant took place in Derry in 1603. Ireland has a long tradtion of providing fabulous horses (Shergar, Arkle), jockeys (Tony McCoy, Pat Eddery) and trainers (Vincent O’Brien, Aidan O’Brien).
If you are in Ireland and are looking for sports betting sites then you’ve probably got horse racing betting at the forefront of your mind. Below you’ll find details of three of the best sites for horse racing available for horse racing punters.

The first step to placing a bet at an online bookmakers in Ireland is to open an account with one, of course! Go through our list of recommended sports betting sites in Ireland and choose the site that appeals to you the most. Once your account is up and running you can go through the betting process as shown here. As our example, we’ve chosen to place a bet at the Irish-owned betting site. QuinnBet.
Step 1:
You need funds to place a bet, of course. Once you’ve made a deposit (don’t forget to claim any bonus cash that you’re entitled to) head to the the site’s main page to find all the latest live and upcoming events. For our example, we’re going to bet on the EPL. Clicking on the link for ‘Premier League’ will allow you to view the current betting opportunities.
Step 2:
Today’s EPL game that interests us the most is Manchester City against Southampton. The site automatically shows us the odds for the ‘1×2’ options (home win, draw, away win). You can look at other markets by clicking on the number to the right of the betting line.
Step 3:
You’ll now be able to see ALL the available betting markets for the game, including BTTS Yes/No, Over/Under, Asian Handicap, First Goalscorer, Anytime Goalscorer, Clean Sheets and so on and so on. We are going to bet on a Manchester City win, so we head back to the page we were just on …
Step 4:
To back City to win, all we need to do is click on the odds for the outcome we want to back on. Here, the odds are a tight 2/11, or 1.29 if you prefer decimal odds. That will transfer the bet to our betting strip.
Step 5:
To complete your bet all you need to do is enter the amount of money that you wish to enter. Here we are going to wager €10, so we enter 10.00 in the box. Our potential returns of €11.82 are indicated. Once you have hit the ‘Bet Now’ button, your bet is placed!

How to Get the Most from Your Sports Betting – Ireland Betting Tips
If you just bet on the odd sporting tip and have reasonable levels of success, then just keep on doing what you are doing. If, however, you want to expand your sports betting skills, then you might want to get a little bit of advice. Here are some free betting tips that you might want to consider if your intention is to improve your sports betting prowess.
Take advantages of bonuses and promotions
Is there any better betting feeling than winning a bet and an amount of cash from it when you’ve not used any of your own money for the stake? You can do this over and over again by taking advantage of welcome bonuses at the best sports betting sites, as well as promotions for established customers.
Of course, you’re not going to embark on a rich and money-filled betting career if you only use free bet money, but using bonus cash could add a little to your betting account. Such bonuses also allow you to see how a site performs in terms of treating its customers, such as how well it honours those bonuses, how speedy withdrawals are and if the site’s customer support options are as supportive as they ought to be.
Use matched betting to solidify your profits
Matched betting is a process where you back one outcome of a win/lose event at one bookmakers, and back the other outcome at a different bookmakers. If you can find the right odds, then you are guaranteed to end up in profit, making this one of the best free betting tips you will ever hear. Even if you can’t, you will mininise your losses should the competitor with the tightest odds win.
An an example, say you back Liverpool to beat Everton at 1.80 in the EPL (you can use the ‘draw no bet’ or ‘double chance’ options to remove the threat of the draw ruining your bet) at Quinnbet and Everton to beat Liverpool at 3.50 at Rabona. If your bet on each is €10, then should Liverpool win your returns would be €18.00 (a €2 loss), but if Everton won they’d be £35.00 (a €15 gain).
Matched betting works especially well with bonus cash. This is because you are not using a single cent of your own money. You are bound to end up in profit, no matter the outcome of the event you are betting on.
Manage your bankroll properly
The main reason sports bettors fail when they start to take their sports betting more seriously is that they fall down on bankroll management. You need to maintain a bankroll (an amount of money set aside for sports betting that is not taken from cash that’s need for other aspects of living, such as rent, utility bills or groceries) in order to become an effective sports bettor.
A good rule of thumb when it comes to your bankroll is the ‘rule of ten’. Your betting unit should be one tenth of your daily bankroll, and your daily bankroll should be one tenth of your monthly bankroll.
Once your daily bankroll is exhausted you stop betting and wait for tomorrow, and if you exhaust your monthly bankroll before the month is up you need to wait until next month before you start betting again.
Another one of our excellent free betting tips – if you manage to double your daily or monthly bankroll then you need to pause your betting too. If you keep betting you will only cut into your winnings and a bad run could see all your gains eaten away.

Credit and Debit Cards
It is not yet mandatory for sports betting sites in Ireland to ban the use of credit cards at gambling sites (as it is over the Irish Sea) but some sites, such as PaddyPower, have banned them in Ireland. This is only a minor inconvenience though, and we do recommend you choose a debit card over a credit card when it comes to making deposits at sports betting sites.
Card deposits and withdrawals usually come free of fees. Deposits are instant but withdrawals can take between three and five days. Rabona is a site that tries to process card withdrawals quickly.
eWallets
The main alternative to cards used by the top betting sites in Ireland is eWallets. The most popular method is PayPal, followed closely behind by Skrill and Neteller. Other eWallets like AstroPay and ecoPayz are available at some sites, but such options are not popular in Ireland.
Ewallet deposits are usually instant, and withdrawals tend to be quicker than card withdrawals – up to 24 hours or less. bet365 is a site with a high number of eWallet options, including Skrill, Neteller and Paysafecard.
ApplePay
The majority of us are now getting used to paying for almost everything using our phones, especially as we seem to be inevitably moving towards a cashless society. Many sites now allow deposits via ApplePay, although withdrawals are not available.
When you make a deposit via your phone at a site that allows ApplePay then an applet will pop up asking you to confirm the payment, using either your password or fingerprint. Deposits are usually instant. Bet365 is a site that accepts ApplePay deposits.

Thankfully, long gone are the days when the only way to access the world wide web was via your computer. These days, the vast majority of internet traffic ends up on a phone or tablet. Surfing the information highway has never been so convenient.
Betting in Ireland is just as convenient. All sites can be accessed via a suitable mobile browser, but several Irish betting sites offer apps that can be downloaded and installed on any iOS or Android powered device. You can place your bets with nothing but a few stabs of your finger!

Registration and Withdrawing Winnings
In the UK, online betting companies are legally bound to identify their customers during the registration process, and especially when it comes to anything to with finances. This usually involves the sending by the customer of scans of documents such as passports, driving licences, utility bills or wageslips. Is the same true at the best betting sites in Ireland?
In Ireland, it is up to each individual bookmaker to decide how far they wish their verification processes to go. This is because there is no requirement in Ireland for a sports betting site to have a Irish sportsbetting license, which is good news as such a thing does not exist! As long as a sports betting site has a licence from a recognised authority, then it is okay for it to accept customers from Ireland if it so chooses.
So, you may be asked to provide verification documents, or you may not!
Online Gambling Laws in Ireland
The first gambling legislation in Ireland was established by the Betting Act of 1931. The Gaming and Lotteries Act was then founded in 1956, working closely with betting shops and casinos. The Betting Act 2015 was established following criticism that the Gaming and Lotteries Act was outdated, meaning that online bookies had to gain approval from a remote operating license. Those who target Irish players without a license faced a fine of up to €150,000, which can be larger for repeat offenders. Ireland’s own gambling regulator will be established in 2021, meaning that bookies may well have to have a physical presence in the country.
