Premier League club Manchester United are the most popular football club outside Spain
on social media. However, their combined following of 214m means they are far behind the two Spanish clubs in terms of popularity on social media.
French champions Paris Saint-Germain are next on the list with a combined strength of 182.2m followers. London side Chelsea complete the top five with a following of 142.2m followers on their official social media channels.
Juventus are the most famous Italian club on social media, with a total of 140.3m followers. The following two spots are occupied by Premier League clubs Liverpool (131.3m) and Manchester City (130m).
German giants Bayern Munich are the ninth most popular football club on social media, with 109.9m followers. London side Arsenal complete the top ten with a 99.5m-strong following.
PSG most popular on TikTok and Man Utd on Weibo
The majority of the followers for most clubs come from Facebook and Instagram. Real Madrid and Barcelona both have sizable followings on both of these platforms.
However, the other platforms do through some interesting observations. French champions Paris Saint-Germain are the most popular football club on TikTok, with 39.9m followers on the platform.
Similarly, Manchester United are the most popular club on the Chinese social media platform Weibo with an 11.1m-strong following.
A 14.9m subscriber base makes Barcelona the most popular football club on the video platform YouTube.
