5 Best Poker Sites for Real Money Reviewed

You’ve already seen your 10 top sites for online poker in Singapore. So, let’s focus on the best. Here’s what makes our top five stand out.

1. BK8 – The Very Best Online Poker Site in Singapore

BK8 poker home page

As mentioned, there are plenty of online poker sites in Singapore. But we rate BK8 amongst the best.

BK8 is a worldwide brand with an excellent track record. It has continually improved its offering, with its poker section being one of the most notable areas of development.

Live poker is truly one of its calling cards. You can play on your mobile device or computer, join public games, enter big-time tournaments, or simply play against your friends.

BK8 also has plenty more tricks up its sleeve. Those include an exceptional UI, excellent downloadable mobile apps, responsive and helpful customer support, and a few solid special offers.

Pros:

  • Poker site with a great reputation
  • Excellent option for mobile poker players
  • Join plenty of tournaments
  • Option to create private tables

Cons:

  • Not the best selection of ongoing promotions

2. 12Play – Poker Site With Excellent Promos

12play poker games

Like BK8, 12Play has an impressive track record and a very good reputation. It’s a true challenger for the top spot in our rankings.

The poker games on 12Play are provided by some of the biggest developers in the industry, including Evolution Gaming. To access them, you just create and fund your 12Play account, then pick the developer you want to use to open up their subsection before choosing a specific variant. Those variants include Hold’em, Triple Card Poker, and Caribbean Stud.

Where 12Play shines is its special offers. These provide you with continual rewards as you play poker on the platform. Most notable are the rebate deals, which refund a portion of your poker losses, and the multiple reload bonuses, which help your deposits go further.

Pros:

  • Fantastic promos for poker players
  • Play poker games from top developers
  • Solid track record
  • 24/7 live chat support

Cons:

  • Relatively small number of payment options

3. UWin33 – Exceptionally User-Friendly Poker Platform

UWin33 live games lobby

UWin33 creates a fantastic first impression thanks to its nicely streamlined user interface, which doesn’t just look great but handles beautifully. Most importantly, of course, this allows you to play poker with both speed and ease.

As with 12Play, UWin33’s poker games come from a series of top developers, like Evolution Gaming and Pragmatic Play, rather than a specialized poker network. This gives you access to a wide range of variants, but – whichever you pick – you’ll get highly-trained dealers operating out of a professional studio for a truly royal flush experience.

Elsewhere, UWin33 is a particularly proven place to play poker, thanks to its multiple licenses plus third-party security certificates. It also allows you to fund your poker play using either crypto or more traditional payment methods.

Pros:

  • Fantastic user interface
  • Various top poker game providers to choose between
  • Safe and secure poker site
  • Get support in English or Chinese

Cons:

  • Lack of poker tournaments

4. Gembet – Nice Diversity of Poker Variants

Gembet live poker games

Like UWin33, Gembet creates a brilliant initial impression thanks to its cool, modern user interface. This smacks of professionalism and makes browsing the entire poker platform an absolute breeze.

Your poker options here are housed within the extensive Live Casino section. They consist of an impressive 11 variants, most of which are provided by industry bigwigs, Evolution Gaming. You can play Hold’em, Three Card Poker, and more here, all while using a fully licensed and provably secure platform. GemBet also features crypto and traditional payment options and a respectable range of ongoing promotions.

Pros:

  • Good choice of poker games
  • Rewarding ongoing promotions
  • Crypto and traditional payment options
  • Very good VIP program

Cons:

  • Wider range of payment options available elsewhere

5. AW8 – Great Choice for On-the-Go Poker Play

AW8 live casino poker

AW8 has an extremely respectable track record, going back to 2018. During this time, it has consistently added to its user base and gaming collection, and now features one of the biggest and best poker collections among Singapore-friendly online casinos

As with Gembet, the poker games here are housed within the live casino area, which is formed by five prominent developers. Again, Evolution Gaming provides the most casino titles, including several popular variants like Texas Hold’em. Where AW8 truly excels, however, is in its mobile offering. High-quality apps can be downloaded for both iOS and Android, allowing you to enjoy the poker action at your convenience.

Pros:

  • Enjoy high-quality poker apps
  • Solid track record
  • Rewarding special offers
  • Responsive and helpful customer support

Cons:

  • Only two payment options available

How We Rate Poker Casino Sites

Our rankings of the sites where you can play online poker in Singapore weren’t simply thrown together randomly. They result from extensive analysis following clearly defined criteria, which are some of the main categories we used.

  • Games Selection

Naturally, the collection of online poker games is the first area we check. We’re looking at a few different things here.

At a basic level, we prefer sites offering live dealer and RNG-based options to suit different players. After that, we like to see as many different poker variants supported as possible, with plenty of individual tables to choose between. A few video poker games are also a plus.

  • Special Offers

Special offers aren’t the be-all and end-all, but they can help as you seek to make a long-term profit. To that end, we evaluate the welcome offers and ongoing promotions on all the poker sites we encounter. This analysis goes beyond the simple headline bonus amount to evaluate the underlying value represented by the T&Cs. Naturally, we prefer brands that either have deals targeted directly at poker players or at least promos compatible with poker.

  • Rake Amount

We’ll cover what the rake is shortly. For now, simply know that it’s a commission, so the lower the rake, the better for the player. We’ve checked the rake amount on all relevant sites and ensured it’s within acceptable boundaries.

  • Payment Options

The more payment methods a real money online poker site provides, the better since it’s an option for a broader range of players. Ideally, we like to see a site with traditional and more modern payment methods, preferably including some cryptocurrencies. We’ve also checked that withdrawal times are speedy and that transaction fees are either non-existent or kept to a minimum. Finally, where fiats are used, we’ve preferred platforms that let you use SGD directly rather than converting from another currency.

  • Customer Support

Even on the best online poker sites in Singapore, you’ll encounter an issue you can’t solve alone sooner or later. That’s why we make it an absolute priority to check a brand’s customer support is up to scratch. This involves two main areas.

Firstly, we confirm that at least one direct contact option, like live chat, is in place. Secondly, we look at the coverage hours, which will preferably be 24/7. Finally, we’ll also check out the FAQ section since – if this is good enough – it can often answer any queries instantly.

Is Online Poker Legal in Singapore?

Singapore generally takes a strict view of gambling. Only a handful of online and physical establishments have been legally licensed, like Singapore Pools and the Marina Bay Sands Casino. All other international gambling sites are basically unable to get a license to operate in Singapore, including poker platforms.

Technically, bettors aren’t allowed to use poker sites registered in other jurisdictions, like the Philippines, Malta, etc. In practice, this is almost impossible to regulate. While you could be issued a fine if caught, the chances of this happening are incredibly low.

Ultimately though, it’s your choice. You take a small risk if you want to play poker online. If you want to play completely legally, you must travel to one of the few licensed poker establishments, such as Marina Bay.

The Best Poker Tournaments Online for Real Money

There are two main ways to play online poker in Singapore. The first is to play one-off games whenever you like. The alternative is to join online poker tournaments

The word ‘tournament’ might sound intimidating, but these contests aren’t. They kick off constantly and just represent a more organized way to play. There’s usually some initial risk, courtesy of an entry fee, but this is offset by the potential to win big if you progress far enough in the tournament.

Here are three of the main types of tournaments you can join.

Freeze-Out Tournament

This is arguably the most classic form of online poker tournament. You pay your entry fee and are given a certain number of chips to play with. You then keep playing until your chips run out; at this point, you are officially booted out of the tournament, with no option to buy your way back in.

Rebuy Tournament

As you might guess, this is the main alternative to a Freeze-Out tournament. In this case, the fun doesn’t necessarily stop when you run out of your initial chips. Instead, you can buy more of them as long as you do so while the Rebuy period is still active. Once that’s finished, the tournament will basically become a Freeze-Out, in which – once you’ve run out of chips – you’re done for good.

Shootout Tournament

Shootouts are a fascinating alternative to traditional Freeze-Out and Rebuy tournaments. Usually, tables are re-balanced as players are knocked out. In this case, each table keeps going until one player is left standing. Once all the initial tables have finished playing, all those winners are rearranged onto new tables until only one table remains.

The player who triumphs on this final table is the overall winner. Also, note that each round, your chips will reset to a certain amount (rather than you carrying the same stack of remaining chips forward, as with a Freeze-Out).

Understanding Rake and Rakeback When You Play Poker Online

The house always needs to take its cut, with both real-world and digital gambling, and so it proves when you start playing online poker for real money too. In this case, it’s done in two main ways.

If you’re playing a poker game online against the computer, they’ll obviously just get your losses. That’s the case for RNG-based poker and certain live games – like 3 card poker online – where you’re just playing against the dealer. If you’re playing poker against other human players, the casino must find another way to make money. The main way it does so is via a ‘rake.’

The rake is simply a commission. A certain percentage of every pot will be taken by the operator in regular poker games. If the rake is 5%, for example, and the pot is $100, then $5 will go straight to the operator, with the rest as winnings. In tournaments, the rake will be taken from your initial buy-in instead.

Rakeback is a cashback deal on your rake. If you find a big-time rakeback deal worth 50%, for example, and you paid $100 in commissions across a given month, you’d get $50 back.

What Is Poker Traffic?

Poker traffic refers to the number of people playing online poker at that time. This isn’t a factor with an RNG-based game or a poker game directly versus a live dealer. However, traffic is crucial when you’re playing online poker in Singapore against other human players. Without it, you won’t have anyone else to play with.

It’s usually pretty easy to gauge traffic in advance. In most cases, you can just head to the poker section of your chosen brand, and it’ll clearly say how many people are playing.

Alternatively, you can research poker networks and see which tend to have more traffic than others.

There are two main advantages of having plenty of traffic with real poker online. Firstly, you can jump into a game whenever you like, rather than waiting for enough players. Secondly, you’ll almost certainly have more variants and tables to choose between, rather than simply having to join one of the few tables with enough players for a proper game.

Types of Poker Games Online in Singapore

You’re given a significant amount of choice regarding how you play online poker in Singapore. We’ve explained some of the most common and popular formats below.

Cash Games

This is the most straightforward way you can play online poker in Singapore. The ‘cash’ part signifies that you’re playing for real rather than fake money. Specifically, though, cash games refer to one-off events rather than tournaments. You pick a table, join whenever you like, and leave whenever you’re ready.

Turbo Poker

Small and big blinds are posted each round in online poker – these increase in many formats to start raising the stakes. Turbo Poker simply means that the blinds are raised faster than they usually would be, thus dramatically ramping up the stakes.

Sit & Go’s

A Sit & Go (SNG) is a basic and popular type of poker tournament. Rather than being scheduled in advance, they’re joined by random players and simply start when enough people have entered. They also usually feature fast blind increases and a fixed prize pool. Crucially, you’ll also have a finite number of chips, with no option for a re-buy once you run out.

Multi-Table Tournaments

Multi-table tournaments (MTTs) can be extremely large, with theoretically unlimited players. All those players will buy in with the same initial amount. Games take place simultaneously at several different tables. Players that win on their table progress to another, then another, and so on, until the main prize is contested on the final table.

Freerolls

Freerolls are the perfect way to experience how a poker tournament works without taking on risks yourself. They cost nothing to enter – you simply sign up on the relevant site and join the tournament without paying a penny. If you win, you can still claim real-money prizes, even though they’ll be much smaller than those in normal tournaments. Alternatively, you might win a free entry into a paid contest.

Progressive Knockout Tournaments

Progressive Knockout Tournaments (PKOs) are the most unusual and innovative format out of those we’ve studied here. They work on a ‘bounty’ system.

All players put an initial bounty on their own head and their tournament buy-in. When one player knocks out another, they claim that bounty. When they’re knocked out, that player claims their bounty, and so on. PKOs are higher risk and higher-reward than regular tournaments since the buy-in and potential payouts are bigger.

Popular Online Casino Poker Variants

You’ll find a fantastic variety of online poker variants in Singapore. Below, we’ve whipped through just some of the top examples.

Texas Hold’em

Texas Hold’em poker online is the most popular variant in Singapore, as it is in much of the world. All players are dealt two cards initially. Three cards are dealt on the flop, then two more in turn, with a round of betting between each reveal. The winner is the player who can form the best hand using their cards and the five on the table.

Stud

Stud poker varies significantly from most modern poker variants. While those involve communal cards, in Stud games each player forms their own hand. Some will be face-up, others will be face-down, so – as in blackjack, for example – trying to work out the probabilities based on the incomplete information you have is a key part of the game.

5-Card Omaha

This is the game for you if you’re looking for a variant that sits squarely in between the previous two. In this card game, each player gets five cards initially. When it comes time to form their final hand, however, they must use two private cards plus three communal cards.

Banking Options at Online Poker Sites in Singapore

Modern-day online poker players in Singapore have a diverse range of banking options. Naturally, these still include traditional methods like bank transfers and debit cards. In addition, many of our recommended poker sites will also let you use cryptocurrencies and e-wallets.

Before joining any poker platform, we’d recommend checking in advance that you’ll have at least one or two suitable payment options. You should also look at the withdrawal speeds and check that transaction fees are minimal or non-existent.

Play Real Poker On Mobile

The rise of mobile technology has been eagerly embraced by poker platforms, including those accepting players from Singapore. Nowadays, you can use your mobile device to play poker wherever you want, whenever you please.

There are two main ways in which this is made possible. Some brands will offer downloadable apps, while others will stick purely to providing mobile versions of their desktop websites. In either case, you’ll find exactly the same poker variants provided, plus the same tournaments, special offers, and payment options.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve always wanted to try online poker in Singapore, there’s never been a better time to get involved. Jump in, and you’ll find an unprecedented number of international poker sites willing and eager to accept your business. You can choose between an enormous range of poker variants, tables, and tournaments to suit any number of players.

After reading this article, you know everything you need to get started. All you need to do now is pick one of our recommended poker sites, create an account, and start having fun.
