Leeds United WILL win the Championship with Burnley also securing automatic promotion back to the Premier League, according to our AI Supercomputer.
Not only that, but Luton Town will disappoint and miss out on promotion back to the top flight, with Derby County, Oxford United and Plymouth Argyle relegated to League 1.
We asked our supercomputer to preview the upcoming 2024/25 Championship campaign, and here it is below.
- Leeds clinch Championship title, Burnley return to Premier League in second
- Derby and Oxford head straight back to League 1 alongside Plymouth
- Middlesbrough, West Brom, Sunderland and Sheffield United make play-offs
Leeds Win Championship Title, Burnley Return To Premier League, Luton Miss Out On Play-Offs
The upcoming 2024/25 Championship season is sure to be an entertaining one, with plenty of narratives heading into the start of the new campaign. Sheffield United, Burnley and Luton Town were the three sides relegated from the Premier league last year, with the resurgent Portsmouth and Derby County back in the Championship following promotion from League 1.
According to our AI supercomputer, there will be many twists and turns throughout the 2024/25 Championship season, resulting in promotion for both Leeds United and Burnley back to the Premier League.
Burnley are no stranger to a relegation or promotion having been up and down the past three seasons, with Leeds also returning to the Premier League as champions after a one year absence from England’s top flight. Neither Leeds nor Burnley being automatically promoted would be a huge shock, given their financial status and the quality in both of their respective squads.
Both Leeds and Burnley are amongst the favourites with the bookmakers, so AI predicting they will get promoted seems very reasonable to say the least. The four teams making the play-offs also doesn’t come as a huge surprise, with recently relegated Sheffield United almost a shoe-in for the Top 6. West Bromwich Albion look a certainty for another strong season, with Middlesbrough and Sunderland the other two improving sides to make up the play-offs.
Another bold prediction by our AI supercomputer is that recently relegated Luton Town will miss out on the Top 6 all together, finishing in eighth and eight points outside the play-offs. This could be seen as a fairly big shock, given the money the Hatters now have from their Premier League relegation and selling Ross Barkley.
Wayne Rooney’s Managerial Woes Continue With Relegation, Derby and Oxford Also Face The Drop
At the opposite end of the table, our supercomputer is predicting that newly promoted Derby County and Oxford United will both head straight back down to League 1, accompanied by Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle.
The Rams and Oxford both had outstanding seasons last year in League 1, but our supercomputer is predicting they could be in for a brutal campaign with relegation straight back down to the third tier.
As for Plymouth, they took a gamble appointing Wayne Rooney as their new boss, but it seems the supercomputer doesn’t think it will pay off, finishing rock bottom on just 32 points after 46 games.
As for the rest of the league, Coventry, Hull and Norwich will once again just miss out on the play-offs but will enjoy fairly strong campaigns. It’s mid-table mediocrity for the likes of Preston, Stoke, Blackburn, Bristol City and Watford yet again, with QPR and Portsmouth also never looking like facing the drop.
As for both Welsh clubs Cardiff and Swansea, they are being predicted by the supercomputer to finish 19th and 20th respectively, both just surviving relegation by a few points. The same can be said for Millwall and Sheffield Wednesday, both staying up by just a matter of points but having fairly underwhelming seasons all things considered.

Commentary
Lee Astley, Head of News at SafeBettingSites, commented on the supercomputer predicted 2024/25 Championship season, saying:
“A Championship season which sees Leeds United and Burnley both return to the Premier League is sure to be an entertaining one, with Luton Town and Sheffield United failing to bounce back to the top flight straight away.
“Burnley’s promotion straight back to the Premier League is no surprise given their yo-yo history, with Leeds winning the league also not a huge shock given their financial status and how close they were last season to gaining promotion.
“Wayne Rooney’s woes as a manager are set to continue with Plymouth finishing bottom of the league, with newly promoted Derby County and Oxford United joining them in fairly expected relegations.”
Methodology
Combining the likes of ChatGPT, Gemini and Bing AI, a prediction was formulated by the supercomputer to predict the final league table standings for the 2024/25 Sky Bet Championship season.
This included providing the supercomputer with a list of all 24 teams in the league and adding how many summer signings each team have made and how many players they have lost so far.
We also asked the supercomputer to predict the full league table including points, goal difference, matches won, matches lost, matches drawn and how many overall games they played.
To make the supercomputer prediction as accurate as possible, we also provided it with extensive information about each club in the Championship. This includes their recent form and how they performed last season, who their manager is, their financial position and the general feeling from fans about the upcoming season.
Based on all of these factors, the supercomputer predicted that Leeds United and Burnley will return to the Premier League via automatic promotion, whilst Middlesbrough, West Bromwich Albion, Sunderland and Sheffield United will make up the play-offs.
The supercomputer also predicted that Derby County, Oxford United and Plymouth Argyle would be relegated to League One. We didn’t ask the supercomputer to predict who would win the play-offs between the four teams.
