With the transfer window coming to an end, at we asked each Premier League club’s main Reddit fan community “Are you happy with your club’s summer transfer window? Yes or No, the results were shocking…

A survey of Premier League football fans across all 20 fan Reddit forums – with 26,000 respondents

Survey highlights:

  • Man United & Everton fans unhappiest in the league with 92% of fans upset with transfer window
  • Bournemouth fans happiest in PL with transfer window (96% fans voting for a successful window)
  • Chelsea, highest spenders with a €417m outlay this summer have just a 68% approval from fans

After reviewing the results it was the Manchester United and Everton fans who were the least impressed with a tie of 92% of fans voting that they are unhappy with their summer transfer window.

United & Everton Fans Most Unhappy in PL With Summer Transfer Business

Just 8% of Man Utd and Everton fans were pleased with their clubs business in the recent Premier League summer transfer window – but why is this?

The Red Devils finished a fair third in the Premier League last season with 75 points and despite still being 14 points adrift of their bitter rivals City, many football pundits feel that United are back on the up.

With a summer transfer window to bolster their squad, and also sell on any players surplus to requirements, this is meant to be United’s season to get back challenging for the title.

However, so far the only major signings for the 13-time Premier League winners have been Danish striker Rasmus Højlund (€75) , former Chelsea man Mason Mount (€64.2) and goalkeeper André Onana (€52.5m).

Three signings that, according to the Reddit fans poll, are not exciting the Red Devils faithful and have also cost United just over €191m.

The exit door has also been shown to the likes of Fred, Anthony Elanga and long-term keeper David de Gea, while could the drawn out Harry Maguire saga also be playing a part in the United fans being unhappy with their summer business?

The controversial England defender was expected to go to West Ham last month, but the deal fell through with Maguire seemingly now stuck at United till at least January. His non-sale has likely hindered some extra funds that the United bosses may have been hoping to use elsewhere.

There is also a similar situation with United midfielder Scott McTominay, who was also muted to be heading to West Ham. At this stage he’s still a United player, but with big clubs, that even include Bayern Munich, circling his time at Old Trafford might be short lived too.

Plus, despite having recorded two wins from their opening three Premier League games, United have looked far from convincing and this may also be playing a part in the 92% result.

The Red Devils needed a late goal to beat Wolves 1-0 in their opening game after a dire performance and that was backed up with a 2-0 away defeat to Spurs.

Yes, they got back to winning ways against Forest in their third league match of the season, but that came after going 2-0 down and this was another sign that many United fans are still not happy with their squad and that they are someway off making a bid for their 21st top-flight title.

Man Utd Also Have Many Injury Concerns

Coupled with United’s limited business in the summer transfer window, new signings Mason Mount and Rasmus Højlund are on the sidelines, while star defender Raphael Varane is also still expected to be out for a few weeks after coming off in their most recent game at Forest.

Add to the injury table England full-back Luke Shaw and Amad Diallo, then this is more evidence why United fans have been disappointed with the lack of reinforcements to counteract these setbacks.

Manchester United Main Summer Signings

  • Rasmus Højlund (€75)
  • Mason Mount (€64.2)
  • André Onana (€52.5m)

Manchester United Main Summer Departures

  • Anthony Elanga
  • Fred
  • Matej Kovar
  • Alex Telles
  • David de Gea

Will The Toffees Come Unstuck With Their Lack Of Summer Signings?

It was Everton fans that were equally unhappy with their club’s summer spending with just 8% of those asked saying they were okay with the players brought into Goodison Park recently.

The Toffeemen are one of just six sides to have never been relegated from the Premier League, with Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal the others.

However, Everton have been dicing with relegation over the last few seasons – finishing 16th last term and 17th in 2022 and many feel that with another poor transfer window and without a win from their opening three games – their luck might just run out this campaign.

Everton have made just two significant signings in forward Beto, who came from Udinese and they’ve also bought Chermiti from Sporting CP – but neither have sparkled as yet.

In fact, the Merseyside team have slumped to three opening defeats in the league and worse still they’ve not even scored a single goal.

Taking all this into account, plus the injuries for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Alex Iwobi, Seamus Coleman and Jack Harrison, then it’s not hard to see why 92% of Everton fans have not been happy with their summer spending.

Everton Main Summer Signings

  • Beto (€25m)
  • Chermito (€12.5m)

Everton Main Summer Departures

  • Moise Kean
  • Ellis Simms
  • Niel Nkounkou
  • Yerry Mina
  • Tom Davies
  • Conor Coady

Which Sides Fans Are Happy With Their Summer Transfer Window?

In contrast to the fan unhappiness at both Everton and Manchester United – with regards to their summer buying (or lack of it) – at the other end of the spectrum there are many smiling faces.

Bournemouth fans come out on top with just 4% of their fanbase according to the Reddit poll unhappy with their summer spending. The Cherries have forked out on players like Tyeler Adams from Leeds, Hamed Junior Traorè, Alex Scott, Milos Kerkez, Romain Faivre, Max Aarons and Justin Kluivert – son of former Dutch legend Patrick.

Next best are Aston Villa, with a massive 93% of their fans happy with their transfer business, while big-spending Chelsea have only pleased 68% of their supporters with their ‘splashing the cash’ few months.

Head of News for, Lee Astley, commented on the survey results, “Although they’ve racked up 2 wins out of 3, Man United fans are deeply concerned with a growing injury list & the lack of fire power up top. The Red Devils have spent €190m+ on 3 players in the window, but both Mount & Onana have failed to win over the United faithful, leaving fans in complete disbelief with how the summer transfer window has gone. Everton have been flirting with relegation the past 2 seasons & are currently sitting bottom of the PL table, the Toffees fanbase are right to be concerned in the lack of transfer activity, with just 2 signings totaling €40m, many fans don’t think that’s enough to stay in the top flight division.”
