As the world`s second-largest streaming platform behind Twitch, YouTube Gaming has seen a considerable drop in the number of streaming channels and watched and streamed hours. In Q3 2022, the platform had close to 445,000 unique streaming channels, almost half the number seen in the year-ago period. Despite that, the most popular YouTube Gaming channels still count tens of millions of subscribers.
According to data presented by Safe Betting Sites, Chilean gamer Germán Garmendia aka JuegaGerman, ranked first among the most popular YouTube gaming channels with close to 47 million subscribers as of last month.
JuegaGerman Leads in Subscribers but Markiplier Has Far More Video Views
Chilean YouTuber, singer-songwriter, comedian, and writer Germán Garmendia rose to fame thanks to his YouTube channel HolaSoyGerman, where he posted videos about commonplace events. However, his gameplay channel, JuegaGerman, has the highest number of subscribers in the games category. According to Social Blade data, JuegaGerman hit 46.9 million subscribers last week. So far, the channel has had more than 2,000 uploads and over 14 billion video views.
Salvadoran gamer Luis Fernando Flores, known as Fernanfloo, has the second most popular YouTube gaming channel with 45.5 million subscribers, while his videos have hit 10.1 billion views. ElrubiusOMG follows with 40.4 million subscribers and 7.5 billion video views. Mikecrack and Total Gaming round the top five club, with 36.1 million and 34.1 million subscribers, respectively.
Although Markiplier ranked as the sixth most popular YouTube gaming channel, with 34.1 million subscribers, the American YouTuber leads in the total number of video views. The Social Blade data show Markiplier hit almost 19.4 billion video views last week, or five billion more than the first-placed JuegaGerman.
Six out of Ten Most Popular YouTube Gaming Channels from the US or Spain
While Chilean JuegaGerman has the highest number of subscribers in the gaming category, statistics show the majority of the most popular YouTube gaming channels come from the United States or Spain.
According to Social Blade data, three out of ten most-subscribed gaming channels were from the United States, the same as for Spain.
Two of the ten most-popular gaming channels, Total Gaming and Techno Gamerz, are from India, the country with the largest YouTube user population, and one channel is from El Salvador.
