As a core part of the gaming experience for many, the game streaming industry continues booming. Today, more than half a billion people worldwide regularly watch game streaming content, helping some of the most popular titles to hit impressive viewer hours.

According to data presented by Safe Betting Sites, Apex Legends is the most popular battle royale title on Twitch and YouTube Gaming, with over 15 million weekly viewer hours, 50% more than the second-ranked Fortnite.

Apex Legends Streams Made 44% of Total Viewer Hours on Twitch and YouTube Gaming

Although Apex Legends has seen a considerable drop in the number of hours watched on Twitch last year, Electronic Arts’ online battle royale hit remains the top game in the category. According to Gamesight data, Apex Legends fans watched an impressive 15 million hours of game streams across Twitch and YouTube, or 40% of the total viewer hours last week. Also, the title had over 812,000 streamed hours in this period, published by around 153,500 creators.

Fortnite ranked as the second most popular battle royale title, with a total of 9.8 million weekly viewer hours, nearly 30% of all hours watched on Twitch and YouTube Gaming last week. However, statistics show Fortnite hit more than one million streamed hours in a week, or 20% more than the leading Apex.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the third most popular title on the streaming platform, hit a 27% share, with 9.1 million hours watched during the measured period. PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS and DayZ round the top five games, with over 1.8 million viewer hours each.

The Fourth Most-Played Game on Steam in January

Apex Legends is now in Season 15, and its popularity increased immensely since its launch four years ago. Besides having the biggest viewership on the streaming platforms, the game also stands high on Steam’s most-played games chart.

According to Steamcharts data, Apex had an average of 197,000 players in January, 15% more than in December, ranking as the fourth most popular game on Steam. This also represents a considerable increase compared to January 2022 figures, when the title had around 145,500 average monthly players. Also, statistics show the game hit 413,670 peak players in January, almost the same as in December and November.

With close to 720,000 average players last month, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tops the Steam chart. Dota 2 and PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS follow, with 431,000 and 205,000 average monthly players, respectively.
