While Honor of Kings remains the highest-grossing mobile game in the world, Mobile Legends continues climbing on the list of MOBA games that made a big hit globally.
According to data presented by Safe Betting Sites, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang was the most downloaded free multiplayer online battle arena game worldwide, generating more than five million combined downloads across Google Play and the Apple App Store in November.
More Downloads than Pokémon UNITE and Honor of Kings Combined
Developed and published by Shanghai Moonton Technology six years ago, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang has grown in popularity worldwide.
In 2020, the popular MOBA title crossed the one billion downloads milestone, but its player base has continued growing ever since.
Last year, the game also hit an all-time gross of $1bn, with nearly half of its revenue coming from outside Asia, making it the top mobile game of its genre with the most global appeal.
According to Statista and AppMagic data, with five million downloads in November, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang was downloaded more than Pokémon UNITE and Honor of Kings Combined.
Garena RoV: Football Fever ranked as the second-most-popular MOBA title, with nearly 2.5 million global downloads. Pokémon UNITE ranked third with more than 1.7 million combined downloads across Google Play and the Apple App Store in November. Honor of Kings and League of Legends: Wild Rift round the top five list, with 1.6 million and 880,000 downloads, respectively.
Honor of Kings Still Tops in Revenue; The Game Grossed $178M in November Alone
Although available only in China, Thailand, Vietnam, and Hong Kong, Honor of Kings is still a king of the MOBA world when talking about revenue.
The world`s highest-grossing mobile game accumulated over $178 million through in-app purchase revenues in November, four times more than the Chinese edition of League of Legends: Wild Rift, the second title on the list. Statistics show League of Legends grossed $38.6 million worldwide last month.
Although leading in total downloads, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang was the third highest-grossing MOBA game in November, with $20 million monthly revenue.
League of Legends: Wild Rift and Garena RoV: Football Fever followed, with $8.5 million and $6.1 million, respectively.
